Free Book Spot – Another site that offers links to free eBooks.

Free Book Spot is a site that has links to thousands of free eBooks in a very wide range of genres and languages for us to hunt for eBooks to read.  As I say, they don’t host the eBooks themselves, they function more like Google in that you can find the eBook you are looking for on this site, and then the link you click takes you to the actual website with the book on it.  Simple really and rather convenient I feel.

I quote from their blurb, which explains rather well how it works:

Free Book Spot is a free e-books links library where you can find and download free books in almost any category. Do you like ebooks? This is place for you!  We have lots of links to free ebooks in more than 90 categories.  You can find scientific, engineering, programming, fiction and many other books. All books are ready for download without registering. As a member you can add new books and add comments. To become a member you should register. Registration is free and short. After registering you become a member of a society and can  create your list of favorites (to download later), add new ebooks, add comments and send messages to other members. For adding new free ebook you should enter some info about the book and link(s) to it. If you have no link – never mind – may be other members will help you. Share your favorite books by adding a link.
Write comments to share your impressions.

Goes both ways:

As you can see, it is a interactive site in so far as one can add links to books one has discovered so that others can easily get hold of those books… neat idea.

I have had a good look around on the site, and they truly do give links to just about any book you can think of, but obviously, as they link to free eBooks, they are mostly rather older books, copyright issues as ever.   But if you are not hunting for the latest book from Terry Pratchet or similar, you will probably find good reading material here without too much trouble.

Conclusion:

Not much more to be said about this one really, except go there and have a look around and see what you can find there.  I shall be having a good hunt around shortly to see what I can download for my holiday next week…    YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

Absolute copyright violations. There may not be direct mechanism for charging downloaders (don’t know, haven’t risked it), but clearly method for follow up “sales”, ID theft, viruses, etc.

Secondly, the ability to obtain content freely does not mean the content owner has published the content for free distribution. You should expect legal action against freebookspot, all of their uploaders, and all of their downloaders. Once the subpoenas issue, it doesn’t take much to send automated bills and file cookie-cutter copyright infringement suits.

This isnt a site for illegal downloads, it is simply a site that gives you links to ebooks that you may download legally and are free.
There are literally thousands of ebooks that one can get hold of that for one reason or another are free of copyright, or have been placed online by authors to be downloaded at no cost for a variety of reasons.

I agree with you completely when you point out the risks involved in downloading illegal copies of ebooks, and do not encourage the use of torrents and the darknet (as the illegal side of the internet is now known).

From what I can see of this site, it is exactly what it claims to be, no more and no less, and provided one uses a normal degree of caution when downloading anything from the net, it is perfectly safe to use as a resource to locate legal ebooks.

WTF !. Copyright infringement more serious than murder ,rape and genocide? .
The laws should be made to change people not crucify them to jail for 50 years .
Also copyright laws should have lesser punishments not absurd fines or 20 years
jail time . Use your damn rotten brains assholes . Laws are made for people not
    against them. Curse the governments.
