It has actually happened!
The strange eDGE ereader, that enTourage promised us months ago has actually appeared, rather to my surprise I have to admit. I had put it down in my mind as yet another bright idea that would never happen, as so often is the case in the ereader world as you may have noticed.
Anyhow, by some miracle or other, it is now for sale at Amazon, for the impressive price of $ 508!!! Sounds a lot, but I suppose in fact it isn’t actually too much, as you are literally getting two devices for that money, as this baby has two screens, one an e-Ink screen, the other an LCD screen, so basically you are getting a dedicated ereader and a small tablet computer in the one package, which is rather a novel idea as I am sure you will agree.
If you are interested in buying it from Amazon, click on any Amazon link you see on tis page and I shall get a nice little percentage of what you spend. HA! Buy me a beer at least!
I am not sure how I feel about small tablets personally, but if you are comfortable with that format, then I can imagine that this would come under the heading of “must have” devices, and it will certainly make starting conversations with people in Starbucks really easy as they see you sitting happily there with this device open on the table in front of you, as you flit effortlessly from reading the latest King novel to dealing with your accounts on the other part of it……
And as someone who really enjoys using two monitors with a computer, I can see the benefits that might arise with this device as well in that respect….. Imagine, you have to write a review of a book, or make notes about a book, here you can do it directly into a word processor as you have the book open, no need to keep leaping from screen to screen to do this, as is the case with, say, an iPad, or any other single screen tablet… Got to be good that!
I have already discussed this device in an earlier post – a much earlier one! So I shall simply give you the link to that post here, so you may visit it and read all about this technological wonder there.
