EbookLite – a very neat reading light for all ereaders.

eBookAnoid

This has to be the best and most universal ereader light there is.

I came across a review of this wonderful little light on Simply Particular, a rather pleasing blog mainly about ereaders, but all manner of other things too.   It is very different to all the other ereader lights I have come across so far, not only will it fit onto any ereader you might happen to have, but it delivers a wide spread of light as well owing to its unique form.

Basically it is a row of LEDs built into a clip-on device, as simple as that.

As you can see from the pictures, it is pleasantly shaped, and looks good on your ereader.

Strong and stable:

One of the many things that appeals to me about this light is that you do not have to fumble around, adjusting it to give you the best light with the least problem with hot-spots, a real problem with most ereader lights I have seen.  I have been driven mad by many of the stalk variety of ereader lights.  You get it nicely set up, then you knock the damn thing, and then have to adjust it allover again, always a tricky business owing to the irritating hot-spots they all seem to have.  This baby is automatically in the right place, and stays there too.

The casing is made of a sort of softish feeling plastic, so whilst it is strong enough, it feels pleasant to handle.  Further, it comes in white, well a sort of off-white really, and black, so it will match most ereaders as far as colour goes.

It consists of three LEDs in a row inside that sort of tube shaped bit that perches at the top of your ereader, and shines its light down the length of your screen, dead simple really.

Another good thing about it is that  it works with 2 standard AAA batteries, so no problem finding spare batteries for it (many such ereader lights use those strange little flat circular batteries, which can be the devil to find replacements for).   This also means that one can use rechargeable batteries as well, should one prefer that.

Other than that…. umm…oh yes, it has two brightness settings too, which is also rather nice.

And the last thing to mention is that it comes in its own soft carrying case.

And the best point is……………………………………

Actually, the last thing to mention is perhaps the most important, its price….  This small wonder only costs $20.00   Which makes it probably the cheapest ereader light there is.

OK, where an you get it?

Target seem to be the only place selling it currently, but if you check on the maker’s website it will point you at other possible suppliers as they occur.
