New Sony ereader… Now you see me, now you don’t.

The saga of the newest Sony ereaders is becoming silly now.

The Dutch online shop (Bol) who first placed an ad for the newest Sony ereader – the PRS-T1 – have done it again, and once again they have promptly removed the ad.

I am puzzled as to what they – and presumably Sony are playing at here, as no one else inthe world seems to have any hard info about the new Sony ereader, how come Bol seem to have it all, and keep making this “mistake”?

I am beginning to think this is some sort of rather foolish advertising trick… sort of teasers to keep us interested.   All very odd though.

This time the ad told us a bit more about this newest Sony ereader, namely the following:

  • Sadly it will be made of plastic (one of the things I really liked about Sony ereaders is that they were made of metal, and not plastic…. )
  • It will have a multitouch  touch screen (pinching, swiping and so on, just as with the iPad.)
  • It will have WiFi
  • It will cost €165 ($240) – which tells us they are planning to take on the Kindle – Heads on too.

Anyhow, if and when Sony actually launch this new ereader I shall of course let you know…..  Until then I shall continue to watch Bol like a hawk!
