Not the most up to date or even best ereader in the world, but acceptable nonetheless, the Pandigital Novel 6” monochrome ereader is currently yours for a mere pittance at Amazon.
This pretty basic ereader has been reduced from its original price of $239.40 to $67.90 (how do they arrive at these strange prices) for a new one, or about $50 for a second-hand but good one.
If you want to try an ereader…..
For those of you who have yet to try living with a standard, dedicated monochrome ereader, this would seem to me to be perhaps the best ereader to dip your toes into the world of ereaders with, as it offers all the normal goodies and functions of such an ereader, a touch screen, reasonable resolution (800 x 600), works with PDF and ePub, has a perfectly acceptable amount of internal memory (2 GB) and can work with an SD card of up to 32 GB – which is enough for thousands of normal ebooks.
It also supports MP3 files, and all standard graphic file formats (JPEG, BMP and so on). It also has built in WiFi, so buying your ebooks on the go is easy, just log onto Barnes and Noble and you can purchase and download your ebooks…
So, you have everything that a brand new Kindle will offer you (except 3G connectivity) for rather less money, and the freedom that being able to read ePub files gives you as well.
So, off you go, click on the link below and buy yourself one at once.. or even several, so the entire family can enjoy reading their ebooks. Perhaps one for the kitchen – recipes you know? And one to live in every lavatory (or bathroom as our USA cousins call it) as well. Endless possibilities for such a cheap device I would think. And it is a good ereader as well, not a cheap Chinese knock off.
