30 Minute Paleo Diet Expert is a small ebook dealing with the purported benefits of living and eating like a caveman from the Paleolithic era (from 2.6 million years ago till about 10 000 years ago).
The main argument of the writer of this ebook is that we developed over all those years to live and digest our food in a certain way that works perfectly for our bodies, and that how we live and eat currently is of such recent date that our bodies are in no way adapted to deal with how we live, from both the food we eat to the way we live (using cars rather than walking, loads of processed foods with all manner of additives that we are absolutely not able to digest or use effectively and so on).
No need to live in a cave.
I don’t think the idea is that we should all leave our homes, cars and other goodies and live in small dank caves and try and find hairy mammoths to kill and eat, but to simply examine how we eat and live, and try and remove aspects of our lives that are actively detrimental for us. And to this end, he claims that the way that Paleolithic man lived is the human ideal in many ways.
By the way, apparently research has allowed us to have a pretty good idea of how those remote ancestors of ours lived and ate, and there is enough information found to allow us to know the relative state of health of those long ago people. So his ideas are not based on fantasy, but on real information.
To quote Michael Sullivan, who wrote this ebook:-
“My goal in this book is to show people they can eat healthy and still enjoy food. Research into the life of the Paleolithic man has shown what foods were available and what they likely ate. The human body evolved and adapted to that kind of diet over the millennia.
But by and large the stuff to be avoided is recent. Look at the label on a soft drink container. Most of the ingredients there have been in our foods for less than 100 years. The human body is just not designed to digest things like potassium sorbate. While potassium is an essential element, if you eat right you get plenty of it.”
Seems reasonable to me in general.. Though to be honest I fully intend to continue to eat my Beer Battered Chips (one of the jewels in the crown of Australian cooking).
I suspect that as with most diets, it isn’t so much a matter of what you eat, but of how much of it, as with how you live your life.. A sensible balance of physical work and not too much of any particular food, and you should be reasonably healthy I believe..
Anyhow this ebook covers the following matters:
- Why eating grains, legumes and dairy may be slowly killing you
- How to dramatically increase your overall health,
- How to lose body fat, gain muscle
- How to control your blood sugar
- How to heal your gut and digestive problems by eating like our ancestors
And so on……
