Case Logic have produced what seems to me to be a very sensible accessory for your Kindle 3 – a waterproof cover that will protect it from spilt drinks and light rain and even allow you (with care) to read your Kindle in the bath without too much worry.

This particular cover comes with a transparent front equal to the size of your Kindle, so you can see perfectly well all the front controls of your Kindle 3 ereader, and thus with ease read and do all the things you need to do when using an ereader.

Actually pretty universal.

My last couple of posts have been about ereader covers in one way or another, well here is what has to be the simplest, cheapest and possibly best ereader case in the world.

With thanks to http://booksprung.com/ for this one.

So you want a protective cover for your ereader, but don’t want to spend a fortune on it?   Well the answer is to make it yourself.   Simple really.

Over the course of the years I have been writing this blog I have seen quite a few DIY ereader covers, bags, and so on, all good in their different ways, and of course, all very, very cheap.   So you save money and have the pleasure of protecting your precious ereader with the sweat of your brow – well, perhaps not all that much sweat really, but it will be all your own work, and thus unique to you and your ereader, which has to be fun.

This time I have found a video which leads you step by step through the process of making a very simple book cover for your ereader.   As you will see, it demands very little in the way of handicraft skill to make, just an ability to cut a reasonably straight line and know how to squeeze glue out of a tube effectively.

Ereader Covers – Do You Need Them?

Many people hate the idea of bulky, expensive covers for their ereaders, preferring to keep them “naked” – But this carries serious risks for their ereaders obviously.  Scratched screens being the main one.

I have been following a lively discussion on Mobile Ereaders on this topic over the last few days, and people have been posting all manner of comments about their feelings about ereader covers.  Some pro, some con, and some offering inspired alternative solutions to buying expensive purpose made covers for their ereaders.

Ereader covers protect.

Many folk there, like me, prefer to have a serious and solid cover for their ereaders, arguing that not only do they offer protection to the ereader, but also give them a handy place to secure a removable light (should you not happen to have one of the latest ereaders with built in front lighting), and also often a place to keep papers and pens as well, a sort of wallet in fact, which can be very useful if you are out and about for much of the time.

Another benefit of ereader covers is that they make your ereader less obviously a valuable electronic gadget, as most of them make your ereader look like a simple notebook – the paper sort, not the small laptops – which is a good thing to help avoid getting your ereader stolen.

Covers too expensive.

As we all know, our various ereaders and tablets are delicate flowers in fact, and need to be cosseted and protected from life’s knocks and bumps, so we need covers for them.  Well here is the Drop Tech Series,  really tough ones for the Kindle Fire tablet.

Made by Gumdrop, a company who specialise in making protective cases for a whole range of mobile devices, this one is a most impressively tough looking thing.  And it not only looks tough, but it is tough.

High Speed USB Charger For All Your Mobile Toys

Most ereaders, tablets, mobile phones and a whole heap of other mobile digital gadgets are charged via an USB link to a computer or some form of power source.   However this can be a really time consuming business, taking hours to recharge one’s precious gadgets.  Dead inconvenient in other words.

USB Charger

There are lots of chargers, working with solar energy, mains power or other power sources, and they all work pretty well, but they are generally quite low power things, so take time to fully fill our gadget’s batteries.   So I was intrigued when I came across an ad for a super powerful USB charger.
